KIRK HEDEGAARD
TROMBONE

Kirk has played trombone since beginning in the 4th grade, playing through
college and eventually earning a BA degree in music education from Cal State
Fresno. Although starting out as a low brass major, playing trombone, tuba,
euphonium, and French horn, he finished his college career completing his senior
recital on organ, later playing for several churches in the Central California area. In
the early 2000's, Kirk was also part of a team that installed a 34-rank, 4-manual
Mighty Wurlitzer theatre organ in the Fox Theater in Visalia, California and was
privaleged to play it for several programs.

Continuing his love for low brass, Kirk studied trombone with Francisco Torres, an
LA-based studio legend. Kirk also played in numerous groups prior to moving to
Arizona including the Tulare County Symphony, College of the Seqouias Thursday
Night Lab band, Tulare Community Band and Swing Ensemble, Hal Magni Big
Band, The Stardusters, The Fresno Jazz Composers Orchestra, San Joaquin Valley
Trombone Choir (for which he has arranged several pieces), and the Sequoia
Winds. He now lives in Cornville with his wife, plays his piano and bass nearly
daily, and continues to work as an out-patient dialysis RN.
