DEB ROBERTS
Deb Roberts has been in our percussion section since 2017. She moved to Arizona in 2015 after retiring as a dental hygienist in Warrensburg, New York. Warrensburg is in upstate New York about 70 miles from Lake Placid, where the 1980 Winter Olympics took place. When her oldest son enrolled in a music program at the local community college, it introduced her to a whole new world. She began with Fundamentals of Music and joined the chorale. From there, she took voice lessons and also sang in the voice ensemble. Finally, her interest grew and she enrolled in the 2-year music program and the wonderful head of the department asked her if she would join the symphonic band. She jokingly told her only if she could play the triangle. That's how she ended up in the percussion section. She is now a dental assistant at Old Town General Dentistry. Deb is a board member of the Old Town Mission, where she also helps prepare lunch on Saturday. She sings with and is the treasurer of the Verde Valley Voices. She is also part of the worship team at Parkside Community Church in Camp Verde.. Her passion, besides music, is mission work. Deb has been privileged to travel to El Salvador and Honduras with Joyce Meyer's Hand of Hope medical and dental team and to Panama with Parkside Church. She has been to Mexico with Faithworks and also has done local projects with them in Flagstaff and Camp Verde. She is a volunteer with Operation Christmas Child, the Shoebox ministry of Samaritan's Purse, and goes every year to the processing center in California to prepare the shoebox gifts for shipping to children all over the world. Thank you Deb for being a part of our percussion section.
