Established in 1990, the Cottonwood Community Band consists of instrumentalists from the Verde Valley and Sedona. The members vary in age from high school students to retirees. The band rehearses on Monday evenings from 7-9 PM at the Cottonwood Community School, Room 301, and presents four concerts each year as well as performing at community events. New Members are always welcomed.

Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Cottonwood Community Band to provide an opportunity for primarily adult area musicians with at least minimum skill levels to rehearse and perform concert band literature and develop their musical talents, to promote musical participation, education, appreciation and enjoyment in our community and its schools, and to enrich the cultural life of the community through our performances.

As a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, the Cottonwood Community Band welcomes your fully tax-deductible donation. The donations are used to cover the costs of purchasing music, hall rental, and other operating expenses. The band members volunteer their time and expertise to bring their music to the Verde Valley.

COTTONWOOD COMMUNITY BAND PERFORMS C’EST NOEL

The Cottonwood Community Band, under the direction of Dr. Sy Brandon and assistant conductor Neil Manzenberger will be presenting its annual Christmas concert for audiences in both Cottonwood and Sedona.  ”C’est Noel” is French for “It is Christmas” and is also theme for this concert as well as the title to the opening selection which combines and develops themes from three well known carols.   The band will also take you on a “Midnight Sleighride”, watch the “Shepherd’s Dance”, and make you a “Stowaway on Santa’s Sleigh” for a trip around the world on Christmas Eve.  In between, they will also perform several other well known carols to stimulate the Christmas spirit in everyone.  We think you’ll walk away with a smile on your face!

The first performance will be at a new location for the band, Verde Community Church, at 102 S. Willard Street, in Cottonwood, on Sunday, December 8, at 3:00 PM.  This venue is larger and has very nice acoustics for band music than most other venues in Cottonwood, and the band looks forward to performing there.

Two weeks later, on Sunday, December 22, also at 3:00 PM the band will repeat the performance at Sedona United Methodist Church, 110 Indian Cliffs Road, in Sedona. (At the Back O’ Beyond traffic circle on State Route 179.)  The band performed their spring concert there and had a full house.  We’re anxious to go back.  It’s a beautiful facility!

Both concerts will last just over an hour.  Both venues have comfortable seats, and as always are free of charge.   The band has grown since you probably last saw them, now numbering over 50 musicians.  We hope to see you at one of these performances!
